2012 hasn't started so well really. Early January some friend's 5-year-old lost her battle with cancer, then a few days later my precious dad suddenly died of a heartattack while on holiday up north. So unexpected, such a shock to us all.

Its quite bizarre how grief invades every part of your day; even when you think you're distracted doing something around the house, it is still there in your subconscious, tears sitting there, just under the eyelids, ready to fall at any moment.
I have learned alot about myself the past 3 weeks. I think I do really appreciate my life just a little bit more. My dad only really relaxed and started doing things for 'fun' like fishing in the last year of his life. I don't want to be like that. I have thought alot about the pointlessness of having regrets too. Life's too short to sweat the small stuff. Another thing I've learned. All that really matters in life are our relationships.
Went for a walk along the beach last week and asked God for a word for 2012. To my surprise He said "I'll give you two...
Enjoy and engage".
Interesting how appropriate both those words are. I know exactly why He chose those. So that's my focus for this year. I have expanded and applied them to several areas of my life so I can make sure I do just that.
And thats all I have to say for now...
